The Reasons for Our Habits Cause Food Heartburn

Why some people are more prone to episodes of heartburn, while others breeze through life without them? There can be a lot of reasons, including heredity, food choices, body size and lifestyle. In other words, almost anything can make you feel the pain of acid reflux, but most of them have something to do with the food they eat. What you eat, how to eat, and when you eat all we can do that you have heartburn.

The worst foods for you to eat include chocolate, citrus fruits, fatty or fried dishes with tomato products (yes, like pizza), garlic, mint, onions, and spicy foods. This does not mean you can not eat these foods, but must learn to eat moderately and not all on the same day. In addition to these foods, the consumption of coffee, tea, soft drinks and alcohol can create the conditions inside your body that cause heartburn. Anything that causes excess stomach acid, such as acidic fruits like lemons and limes, can trigger acid back up into the esophagus causing heartburn. (more…)

How to prevent gastroesophageal reflux

Changes in lifestyle can relate then reduce the risk of reflux:

* If overweight, try losing weight.

* Avoid large meals and high-fat, as well as pecking at bedtime. Wait a while after eating before bedtime.

* Limit coffee making and other possible problem foods.

* Reduce alcohol consumption.

* Try to avoid increases in abdominal pressure, the use of belts, etc..

* Stop smoking.

If symptoms are infrequent (ie less than five times a month) can be treated with antacids, drugs sold without prescription. (more…)

Causes of Gastroesophageal Reflux

In many cases, reflux can not be attributed to any particular cause. In others, the following disorders can contribute to the problem:

Hiatus hernia

The upper stomach makes its way through the diaphragm (main breathing muscle that separates the heart and lungs with stomach, liver and other abdominal viscera), causing them to rupture, leaving more open hole through which the esophagus going from the chest to the abdomen, thus preventing the muscle fibers of the diaphragm closing well the bottom of the esophagus. Therefore, the esophagus remains completely open, allowing stomach acid to enter into it, especially when the stomach is full digestive process.

Overweight

If you are overweight, the excess fat from the abdominal cavity increases the pressure inside the stomach with its contents rises into the esophagus. Conversely, weight loss reduces stomach acid reflux. (more…)
